This college is located 8 kilometers south of Arwal, on the Patna-Aurangabad National Highway 139, to the east of the Sonbhadra River’s heartland. It was established in the year 1980. The college is permanently affiliated with Magadh University under the Government of Bihar. Its founders were the honorable late Shri Chandrashekhar Singh, former Member of Parliament from Jehanabad, and his wife, the late donor Smt. Sohagin Devi.Approximately 60 professors are working here, and the student strength is around six thousand.

The college has a co-educational system. Special encouragement is given to female students in areas such as admission, fee waivers, access to books from the library for underprivileged students, sports, facilities including a common room, free hostel accommodation, and other amenities.
